One thousand steps
Large projects can seem overwhelming at times. There are so many moving parts headed in a lots of directions. It can become confusing and stressful. It’s important to remember that the whole is the sum of it’s parts. That the project can be broken down into many many smaller parts. That often themselves can be broken down into smaller parts.
A modules can be broken into parts, objects and functions. Which can be broken down into loops and conditionals. Which are just a grouping of statements. Which are often simple equations. And they are strings, numbers and symbols. Which are themselves little tiny characters.
Break down the logical parts of a project. Define discrete units and work on that exclusively. Focus your mind. Break down the task at hand until you have small piece to play with. Moving and morphing them, always understanding the pieces and their role, slimming and solidifying them. Until they are useful.
Put them into service and move on to other parts that need shaping.
Remember this, not only does the journey begin with a single step, it is only comprised of single steps.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
